One extended cruise circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the death of an elderly lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the excursion for a pause. The ship departed without her and came back later that day after the ship staff realised the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive search operation located her body the subsequent day.

Officials are investigating the incident, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and crew on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the journey had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he added that passengers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to coordinate the travel back of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also published an revised communication, and said they had "issued a order to the Master" preventing any additional guests from getting on the ship.

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "stunned and distressed that the liner left the island after an scheduled tour without my mum".
