It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
